Safety Not Guaranteed – short movie review

I thought the movie was brilliant. Definitely in my top 10 list for 2012 movies.

Also, the ending song is fantastic. It goes straight into my list of Best Movie Closing Song, joining Romeo + Juliet (Exit Music was amazing but the movie was horrendous – well, except the last scene), Super and Bang Bang You’re Dead.

Aubrey Plaza started out playing Aubrey Plaza but it was nice to see the subtle development of her character (would have been even better if the movie wasn’t a paltry hour and a half long).

Not going to spoil anything, so I’ll just say that the film’s simultaneously warm and quirky – just enough to overcome its deficiencies (the subplots felt incredibly rushed and tacked on in comparison to the main storyline, the mediocre camera work and the lack of anything visually exciting in the first 3/4 of the movie).
